I was a child when You first revealed Yourself – Lord –
Young and helpless – alone –
Unseen but always with me –
As I grew – always You
Were watching
Over me –

More aware of You I became – Jesus –
As the years came and went –
I rested in You – alone –
As life grew more complex
More intense –
And You –

Your face seemed hidden from me – Lord –
Troubles like a forest blinded
The eyes of my heart and mind –
But rays of light shone through –
Weary – I’d
Rest in You –

The light of Your countenance made me bold – Jesus –
Your love like a warm blanket
Quieted my alarm – saved
Me from all harm –
Gratefully I’d
Rest in You –

Learning day by day and year after year – Lord –
When I labored to achieve happiness –
You rested – but when I
Trusted You – I freely received
my heart’s
Request –

Yet – like a bird flies into a window glass – Lord –
I become confused by false indication –
Forgetting all You’ve taught me –
I return to my old way of thinking –
I must –
I must –

Not I must – You did at the cross – You did –
You took away the curse – You –
You alone – You labored
So I might rest –
I rest –
In You –

When I rest – You work – You change the world
For me – You listen to my
Every whispered prayer –
You show me again there
is none
like You –

I’ll say it again – Lord –
There is none like You –
