It Is Good to Give Thanks to the LORD – Psalm 92

Psalm 92 – The Bible – (New Living Translation – emphasis added)

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to the Most High.
It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning,
your faithfulness in the evening,
accompanied by the ten-stringed harp
and the melody of the lyre.
You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me!
I sing for joy because of what you have done.
O Lord, what great works you do!
And how deep are your thoughts.
Only a simpleton would not know,
and only a fool would not understand this:
Though the wicked sprout like weeds
and evildoers flourish,
they will be destroyed forever.

But you, O Lord, will be exalted forever.
Your enemies, Lord, will surely perish;
all evildoers will be scattered.
But you have made me as strong as a wild ox.
You have anointed me with the finest oil.
My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies;  my ears have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents.

But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house.
    They flourish in the courts of our God.

 Even in old age they will still produce fruit;
    they will remain vital and green.
They will declare, “The Lord is just!
    He is my rock!
    There is no evil in him!”

    It is good and right to always be thankful to Him. I struggle with remembering this about my enemies sometimes though, I admit. Blessings, Carol Ann.

    • Hi Bonnie. Thanks for stopping by. When we know that God is in control, and that we are being blessed for Jesus’ sake, it’s not as hard to let go of offenses. I love this Psalm. I need to be reminded of my blessings often. When I need an attitude adjustment, I go to the Psalms and get one. They make me smile. Blessings to you, Bonnie…

    I’ve never read this version before Carol Ann. It’s wonderful. I have loved this Psalm for years, and this new interpretation of it only confirms its beauty and power. Thanks for sharing it.

    • Thank you for stopping by and noticing that I used a version other than KJV for a change. I like reading other versions and often do, but I usually quote KJV. Blessings to you, Elizabeth…

    It is a beautiful and powerful Psalm. Always remembering to sing praises when our prayers are answered regardless of the answer received. I have a moving meditation that I have done for years that has nine steps but it always begins with praises.

    I am not familiar with this Psalm, but it conveys such hope – I like it! It’s nice to know that even though evil seems to be ‘winning’ right now, that will not always be the case.

    • I posted a chapter from the Bible. The Bible claims to be the Word of God. Those who know the LORD, believe it. God wants us to know Him. Without the Bible, we would know little about the God who created Heaven and Earth and the Universe. Whatever we would think about God, without the Bible, would be only an opinion, a guess.

      This chapter reads like a poem, doesn’t it? And the spirit of God’s Word is blessed forever. Thank you for your insightful and kind comment. Blessings to you, Trisha…
