A Merry Heart Does Good Like a Medicine – But a Broken Spirit Dries the Bones – Proverbs 17:22 –

Dog with Birthday Hat and Balloons

Last night we attended a party at the home of one of our friends. We enjoyed the good foods and beverages provided and finger foods we all brought to the party. As we feasted, we talked and laughed a lot. One lady in our group holds the prize in my estimation for helping us see ourselves in a kinder, friendlier, and humbler light. She tells about accounts from her own life that are filled with humor, as well as anecdotes she’s heard. She recently told us this story that made us all laugh. It is not a true story. Rather it is a tale she heard and shared with us. I don’t know how long this has been passed around or who first told it. You may have heard it before. I think it will make you laugh.

A man was stranded on a remote island for many years. Finally he was discovered by sailors on a passing ship who noticed him waving his arms to get their attention.

They let down a small boat manned by a few members of the crew. As the crew landed on the shore, they noticed three buildings and supposed that others must be stranded on the island as well.

They inquired of the man, “How many people are stranded on this island?”

“I am the only one here,” he replied.

“If you are the only one here, then why are there three buildings?”

The man pointed to each building and explained its use:

“This one is my home; this one is my church; and this one is the church I used to go to.”

Enjoy. 🙂
