It Is Finished – We Rest in His Completed Work Alone – We Have Nothing to Add – Jesus – Lord of Lords – King of Kings – Gave Himself for Us – He Lives – We Live –

MP900433127

The law has been fulfilled by our Savior –
Not by you or me – no – not by us –
Our fallen state has been redeemed –
But what must we do to stay redeemed –
What crown of thorns must we wear –
What punishment must we bear –

Dare we think we owe no portion –
Are we duty-bound to uphold our end –
What formula – what plan of action –
What contribution must we make – NONE –
‘Twas Love that drew salvation’s plan –
‘Twas begun and finished by only ONE –

Jesus – our Redeemer – The Lamb that was slain –
Took away our sin and gave us His righteousness –
He made Himself weak so we could be strong – He
Made Himself poor so we could be rich – Our part
Is to believe – Believe what Jesus said –
It is finished – It is finished – We are complete in Him –

There is nothing left for us to do – Nothing to
Add to His finished work – No – Nothing –
Not one thing is lacking – All we need we have –
Our lot is to rest in Him who loves us – whose
Love is flowing through us – Let God be God –
Let us abide in Him – satisfied – forever –

Ephesians 2:6-9 – The Bible (KJV) – And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

  2. However, I think we must keep covenant and live in testimony to remain in grace. There are 2 sides to this freely given contract.

    • Thank you for bringing up this issue. It seems no one expresses what many probably have thought.

We rest in Christ’s work on Calvary for our salvation. There is nothing we can add to our salvation. Grace is grace. It is freely given to us.

The Holy Spirit living within believers causes living water to flow from us, which is the love of God springing from us toward God and others. His Spirit inside us inspires us to live right and love others. The works that flow from our relationship with the Lord do not contribute to our salvation but rather are the fruit of our union with Christ. We should not feel that we must work to keep our salvation, because it implies that what Jesus did to save us was not enough. It was enough. Our good works are the fruit of our love union with the Lord. We were created for good works, the outpouring of God’s Spirit from within us.

Thank you for the opportunity to explain. Please present any other issue that may come to your mind. I appreciate the opportunity to explain. If I don’t know the answer, I will confess that I don’t know. Blessings to you, Carl…

We tend to skip over the “it is finished” statement. There is no clean up or polishing to do, the work is done. Jesus did it all for us.

We live in a world where strings are always attached – you don’t get something for nothing. I think this is why it is difficult for some to accept grace, that Jesus died so that we could live. All we have to do is accept Jesus. By the way, I like your explanation to Carl above.

    • Nice to hear from you, Janna. The gospel really is good news. Strings are attached to just about everything in life, but Jesus redeemed us with no strings attached.Thank you for stopping by and for your insightful comment. Blessings to you…
