Watching clouds in the sky was one of my favorite childhood pastimes. I stared at the clouds when I was alone and had no one to talk with. Lying flat on the grass I would look up, imagining a cloud to be whatever animal it looked like. As soon as I would decide an elephant was floating in front of my eyes, it would change into something else. As I lay there observing the mesmerizing beauty of the atmosphere above, I wondered where Heaven might be, and if Jesus were looking back at me.
Am I different now? I think so. I believe the Lord is always with me. I don’t feel alone. If I were to lie on my back in the grass (which I won’t), I’d know that Christ is in me as I am in Him, that there is less than a heartbeat or a breath between us. Life is good.
I laid in the grass looking at the clouds as a child, too. I still love looking at them…now from my balcony. Yes, life is good.

I wonder if kids still watch the clouds. I never see any kids outside anymore. Maybe they watch virtual clouds.

I hope they still watch clouds. Real clouds. I think they do.
