And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover – Awesome – Is This Not True Anymore –

sunWe can trust the Bible to be true. Know the truth and the truth will make you free. Free of what? Sickness, confusion, fear, any spiritual or physical evil.

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:17-18 – The Bible (KJV)

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall never pass away. Matthew 24:35 – The Bible (KJV)

These verses (Matthew 16:17-18) remain in effect unless some verse in scripture specifically says that they do not apply to believers today.

I’ve heard a few verses interpreted to indicate that some of the gifts and miracles that belong to the church no longer operate. There are no verses that even remotely say any of God’s promises are null and void. The only time any gift does not operate is when we do not believe it happens anymore.

The verses quoted below were part of Paul’s message telling that love (translated here as charity) is more important than all other traits or characteristics or gifting of Christians. These verses (the ones purported to say that some of the early Christian miracle gifts like divine healing, speaking in tongues, and miracles) are italicized so that you may decide for yourself whether or not they clearly say that signs and wonders are no longer a valid part of the Christian experience for today.

1 Corinthians 13:8-13 The Bible (KJV) – Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

These verses say that some of the prophesies we hear may fail (prophesies made by people), some speaking in tongues may not continue, some knowledge we depended upon may vanish away (not Bible truth, which remains forever), but LOVE (God is Love) never fails. Paul’s message on love starts earlier than the first verse I quote. Check it out. Begin at chapter 12 and read through chapter 14. Even more clearly you will see that the message had nothing to do with the verses spoken by Jesus in Mark 16:17-18.

If we expect to be healed by faith, we must believe that God is still in the business of healing. I believe God heals. I believe God has His hand in anyone’s healing. I believe He blesses what doctors do in many cases. I believe that God blesses surgeries and heals people’s wounds. God is good and He is our Healer.

I also believe that God blesses anyone’s genuine faith to be miraculously healed. I believe God supplies the faith if we believe He will heal as in the beginning of the church. It still happens today. It happens when people are able to believe. Hearing that God does not heal causes people to doubt. Believe the truth and receive the healing you want and need.
