After the broth finished simmering, I strained the vegetables out of it and discarded them. All the flavor from those vegetables was deposited into the broth.
I sauteed chopped onion, carrot, and celery, just until tender, and added them to the broth. I browned some ground sirloin and added it along with a little tomato sauce and cream style corn (didn’t have whole kernel), and black beans. I put some of the black beans in the blender to thicken the soup just a bit. I meant to add chili powder and ground cumin to the pot. I forgot. It was delicious anyway. I served it with biscuits and black grapes.
It will soon be soup season, becoming a staple in the fridge.

I am a little early. I jumped the season. Sometimes I just want soup, and this kind doesn’t take a long time to prepare, unless one makes homemade broth. I don’t make soup often even in the cooler season. Maybe I’ll change this year and eat more soup. Blessings to you, Patti…
