Yesterday, as Steve backed out of the driveway, we commented about our cactus leaning slightly. Steve said it wouldn’t hurt anything if it fell. This would be true as long as no one were standing in the path of its decent, and no one was. Whew! We thought we might have to take it down if it leaned anymore. It’s down now.

Wow. I wouldn’t like those monsoon rains. I’ve seen water saturated earth do that, though, even with big trees. I used to have a huge oak in my front yard and I always worried during the Florida hurricane seasons. The tree became infected with mistletoe, and I didn’t realize the extent of the damage. I had to have it cut down. I missed it at first, but now my yard is so much more open and light, and there’s no danger of a tree falling through my roof. It was very close to the house.

All things work together for good…. I’m glad you are enjoying more light in your yard. Steve and I are already thinking about replacing the cactus with a small tree of some kind that will not take over the yard. It was a magnificent cactus. It sure was a surprise! Steve had to go to Lowe’s this morning. As he backed out of the driveway, he saw the fallen cactus. He called me from his cell phone and told me to come outside and look at the garden. I could hardly believe it! Blessings to you, Elizabeth…

Sad to see a Saguaro down, but I’m glad no one was injured. They are surprisingly heavy!

I am also very glad no one was injured. I guess it was a good time to fall down when the wind and rain kept everyone inside. We haven’t even started to try to move it yet. What a project! Steve will need some long-sleeved heavy gloves. I’ll stand by and cheer him on. What’s a wife for? Blessings to you, Janna…

The heavens open and rivers pour down. A monsoon rainstorm usually lasts only a short time, sometimes only five or ten minutes. In that short time the sky dumps enough water to cause many flash floods. I am amazed at the short time it takes for the ground to suck up all the water.
We are also glad no one was hurt by the cactus tumble. Blessings to you…
