Steve, My Miracle Husband, Scheduled for Hip Replacement Surgery – But I Want God to Heal His Hip – But – If Not – I Praise God for Doctors – If You Are a Praying Person – Please Pray for My Hubby – He Needs a Flesh and Bone Hip – Says His Wife – And She Can Have What She Says – Mark 11:23-24 –

Steve and I like the song sung by the late Johnny Cash and his wife, June Carter, entitled Jackson. It says, “We got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout.” The rest of the song tells how they’ve been talking about Jackson ever since the fire went out.

Our fire hasn’t gone out and never will, but we enjoy that song and laugh a lot every time we hear it.

We got married only eight days after we met, although we had talked on the phone four or five times before that meeting. I was living in Texas and Steve in Arizona. I won’t go into detail about how we met, but but we did, and we are still together and very happy.

Steve had been experiencing the deterioration of his hip joint for several years. Ever so gradually it has been hurting more and more until recently I’ve been concerned that I might have to call 911 to get paramedics to carry him home from a shopping trip or a visit to a restaurant. It only hurts when he walks. (If only he could fly or float, but he has to walk.) Now it has become a show-stopper, so to speak. His face grows pale and he has to stop and start again and again.

Steve works hard everyday. He likes to keep busy and is remodeling our home. He has pulled up the old flooring and is almost ready to lay the new flooring. This project is going to have to wait until he has had surgery and healed completely. Tomorrow Steve will see the doctor and learn exactly what this operation will mean to him with regard to healing. He hopes to be able to return completely to normal.

When the doctor first showed Steve the x-ray and told him he needed a hip replacement, he also told him he’d be able to return to normal a few months after surgery. How many men at 76 years of age spend four or five hours a day doing hard labor? He is down on his knees pulling and pounding. He stands up and bends down, scrapes and lifts and acts like a young man. Tomorrow, when his doctor hears Steve’s idea of normal, I wonder what he’ll say to that. I think the doctor expects a man 76 years old to sit, stand, walk, and sit again.

I know you may be thinking that I’m a little rash claiming that I can have what I say. I’m claiming it. If I don’t get it, I’ll get over it, but I’m not over it YET. I will stand on God’s Word and trust. If I fail, that is the time I will consider what to do next. But I already know what to do next: I’ll get over it and praise the Lord for the doctor and the artificial hip.
