Busy Busy Busy – My New Life – Very Different – I Like It

My new husband, Steve, likes to entertain, and he likes to party with our multitude of friends. I am involved and engaged in this new activity in my life. We appreciate good food and love to have a good time. We join our group of comrades at various restaurants and dine together after church on Sundays. We attend prayer meetings with 25 or 26 attendees once a week and meet together at Golden Corral, one morning each week, to visit over breakfast.

photo (6)I cook three or four days a week for this incredible man, and I love doing it. Here is a batch of Farmer’s Rice, a dish my Pennsylvania Dutch grandmother served often. She taught me how to make it. Steve prefers this dish with white rice and golden raisins. (You are right to suspect that I am struggling to keep my weight under control.)

Steve developed an interest in Billiards (pool is what we call it), and we now have a pool table in what once was our living room. We call it a game room now. We play pool together every day. Steve is better at pool than I am. About once a month, Steve invites his buddies out to breakfast at a restaurant and then to the house, after, to play pool. They spend the entire day having fun, while I spend the day with the gals, dining and shopping. I’m not a natural shopper, but I am exiled until the pool games are over. Lunch at a restaurant I always enjoy. Busy, busy, busy!

How do I find time to work on my book? Uh… It’s a challenge, but I do it. Right now, I will begin proofreading the final print version. No, first I will clean up the kitchen after our afternoon dinner of pork chops, stir fried portabello mushrooms with red onion, broccoli and rice, pickled beets made from scratch, and fresh grapefruit slices. Oh, yes, and farmers rice. It’s a mess! Really. Steve helped me before he went back to working in his carpenter shop in the garage. He stacked the dishes for me and wiped the counter top. I appreciate him for that.

Just received a text message from my sister. She is inviting us to happy hour this afternoon! Uh… YES, of course!

    • Yes, you are right about that. Life does fill up our days. Why do I feel that I failed to get much done by the end of the day, even though I was busy all day? I just have to say to myself, tomorrow is another day. 🙂 Thanks for visiting and for your comment. Blessings to you, Janna.

    • Yes, we enjoy restaurants of all kinds. It’s no wonder I cannot lose weight easily. This partying that we do is a challenge, but I wouldn’t change it. Yes, it is difficult to find time to do what I really enjoy a lot, writing. You know how we are: We will FIND time to write. Blessings to you, Patti…
