During times of trial – LORD –
When help seems far away –
When the roaring of the lion
Frightens me – and I need a place to rest –
You are here with me –
You hear me when I cry – LORD –
You speak Your words of comfort –
Yet I find myself running –
Times I should be resting in quiet expectation –
You are here with me –
Why don’t you lift me out – LORD –
I know You can – but You don’t –
You say You have a purpose –
You tell me I can walk on the raging sea – if I want –
You are here with me –
I don’t want to walk on the sea –
Peace – be still – You say –
Rest in Me – I’m here –
I would carry you – if you’d wait for me – My Child –
Yes – You’re here with me –
I thank You – LORD – for Your presence
You are all I need –
Without You – I would die –
Only while I’m resting do I fully realize
You’re always here with me –

Isaiah 43:2 – The Bible (KJV) – When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
Matthew 8:24-27 – The Bible (KJV) – And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marveled, saying, what manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
Matthew 14:24-31 – The Bible (KJV) – But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, it is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spoke unto them, saying, be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Sometimes resting in the Lord is the most difficult thing to do all while being the easiest thing to do. Knowing He is always there waiting for us to take our rest in Him, that He always hears us when we call, that He has plans for us that we cannot even beging to fathom, that He loves us even when we fail to put our trust in Him, is the peace that is beyond all understanding and the joy unspeakable which is full of His Glory.
This beautiful poem was well worth waiting for Carol Ann. Thanks for sharing it with us. 🙂

Thank you, Elizabeth. Your comment is insightful indeed. I love the part you wrote: that He loves us even when we fail to put our trust in Him… How true that is, and as you say, how difficult to do what seems so easy, to rest. If I learn nothing else in this trial, I want to learn to rest in Him. JESUS is worthy, faithful, and able to do everything He says He will do. Blessings to you…

Thank you, Tekia. I love Isaiah 43:2, also. Although, I’d be happy to stay out of the rivers and out of the fires. Ha! But we don’t stay out, do we? What a wonderful promise in this verse! Blessings to you…

Beautiful poem! I was happy to see you’d posted a poem – it’s been a while and I wondered how you were holding up. It’s hard to understand why we suffer, but you’re right – God does have reasons.

Thank you, Janna. It has been a long time since I’ve posted. This has been a quiet season for me. I feel like half of me was amputated. My brain keeps looking for the missing parts, and distress signals are bumping into one another. I’m doing better, I think. Jesus knows what to do with me. I can rest knowing that He’ll put me back together again. I’m not Humpty Dumpty. I’m a child of King Jesus. Blessings to you, Janna…

As I lay abed this morning, He put you in my mind and I said a prayer. I just read your heart-poem
and what I was going to say was : Exactly the same words you said above! A sort of confirmation for us both. It is hard to be still, even in my senior-ness, but you still have my prayers and best wishes for blessings. May His Love wash over you.

Thank you, Len. I need your prayers. Jesus is always here with me, and I couldn’t make it without Him. But, didn’t God say that it wasn’t good that man should be alone? Woman doesn’t like it either. Blessings to you, gloryteller… I’ve been married all my life (well, I exaggerate just a little), and now I’m alone and realize just how lonely ONE can be.
