My Righteousness is from YOU – JESUS

My righteousness is from YOU
JESUS – who suffered and died
And rose again

In YOU I triumph – unstoppable –
Your LOVE is my JOY – YOU are
TRUTH and GRACE – JESUS –
Son of the Father

My righteousness is from YOU
JESUS – who suffered and died
And rose again

My sins and lawless deeds YOU
Remember no more –
I am blessed by GRACE and
Freed by TRUTH

My righteousness is from YOU
JESUS – who suffered and died
And rose again

Who delivers from condemnation –
Who abolishes guilt –
The ONE who freely gave
His blood

My righteousness is from YOU
JESUS – who suffered and died
And rose again

Who keeps His promises –
Who defends His own
From every accusation –
YOU LORD

My righteousness is from YOU
JESUS – who suffered and died
And rose again

Who sits on the Throne at
The Father’s right hand –
YOU- LORD JESUS –
Glory Hallelujah

My righteousness is from YOU
JESUS – who suffered and died
And rose again

Romans 8:1 – The Bible (KJV) – There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, *who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

(*Scholars say that this phrase was not in the original documents but was added later by translators. However, those who belong to Jesus, loving Him, do desire to walk with Him. Knowing the truth of our inheritance in Christ empowers us to walk in the Spirit. When we fail, we are forgiven; our righteousness is from Jesus. We are not condemned. Our sins were put on Jesus and His righteousness was given to us at Calvary.)

Romans 8:2 – For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

John 5:24 – The Bible (KJV) –  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.  (Words of Jesus)

John 1:17 – The Bible (KJV) – For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 8:12 – The Bible (NKJV) – For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.

Romans 5:17-19 – The Bible (KJV) – For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.  For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Isaiah 54:17 – The Bible (KJV) – No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

Acts 1:9-11 – The Bible (KJV) – And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.  And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven?  This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

  1. Lotta people confuse righteousness with self-righteousness which has a same difference as being judgmental as opposed to exercising good judgement.

    • I see how my line “my righteousness is from You” is confusing. We are not righteous in ourselves. God says that our righteous deeds are as filthy rags. God is Holy, and God’s righteousness is spotless and perfect. Jesus bore our sins on the cross and gave us His righteous standing. When we received Christ as Savior, we received His righteousness as a gift. Because of Jesus’ death for our sins, a believer’s standing before God is perfect, righteous, and holy. We have the righteousness of Jesus imputed to us. Isn’t this a wonderful exchange? Jesus took our sins and gave us His right-standing with God. What Jesus did for us is what we needed to be accepted by God. Our sins are forgiven, all of them, for all time. That doesn’t mean we never sin. It means that Jesus already suffered the punishment for our sins, present, past, and future, and our forgiveness is justly ensured, because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross.

Awesome poem Carol Ann, I wasn’t confused. I understood what was being celebrated. I too celebrate my righteousness from Jesus. Love that, Freed by Truth line. Love how you have applied the Living Word. Well said.

Wonderful poem! I also like how you clarified our righteousness in the response back to Carl.
