One month more than a year ago
Our lives drastically changed
From our lighthearted communication
To your silence and helplessness –
From our choice to a one-way street –
No turning back
No turning back
You were my inspiration then –
As now – living one day at a time –
Ever trusting – ever hoping –
Whatever we needed God gave us –
We were safe in His hands and quiet –
No turning back
No turning back
We’re holding hands together now
In the valley of the shadow –
We’ve never been alone –
Yet distance grows between us –
You sleep deeply many hours –
No turning back
No turning back
Steadily heading in one direction –
Medically you’re ever declining –
Spiritually – ascending – until –
Jesus extends His hand to you
And you drop mine willingly –
No turning back
No turning back
The Lord is our Shepherd – We
Shall never suffer lack –
We’ll meet again another day –
Separation soon to be forgotten
In the land of joyous celebration –
No turning back
No turning back

Psalm 23 – The Bible – KJV
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
…until Jesus extends His hand…
We never know when that day will be for any of us, but one day…Glory. Loved this post!

Thank you, Jessie. My heart is sewn to my husband’s in love’s scarlet threads. We will not easily separate, but when we must, it will only be for a time until we celebrate together again. I couldn’t make the transition without Jesus. With Jesus, the sky is ours to navigate together, Jesus and all of us called by His name. Blessings to you, Jessie…
