All I Need

When my accomplishments seem adequate
When I find my cushion and sit on it
When all is right
In my sight
You say – come up higher my child –
Look behind you – look ahead –
Yes – I’ll stretch myself –
LORD – I say
I want to be all I can be –
Then I discover I can be nothing
Without You – LORD –
And I fail
And I fail and I fail – LORD – I fail
Again and again – so I quit –
I quit expecting
To succeed
You remind me – LORD – that I
Am – and I belong to You
No matter how
I do
You ransomed me – I’m yours
Forever – not because I succeed
But because You’re
All I need

Hosea 13:14 – The Bible (KJV) – I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

Psalm 23 – The Bible (KJV) – The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Matthew 26:31-32 – The Bible (KJV) – Then saith Jesus unto them, all ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

This is very beautiful. So important to depend on Him for everything… I am recovering from a recent trauma and using prayer and writing to help with my recovery. I would love to collaborate with you sometime or just share poems.
Hope to see many more posts from you!

    • I’m sorry to hear you suffered trauma, Danielle. May God rush healing to your heart and your body. Your artwork is very touching. I was awe struck looking at your drawings. I’d like to collaborate. Blessings to you…

Thank you for your care. I didn’t realize I had an old blog still selected as my primary, but I’m glad you liked my art on it. 🙂 The new one is a collection of thoughts and reactions(sort of like poems) and it’s my primary now:

Will continue to follow you! ❤

  2. I can still hear our youngest son, he was about 5 years old, singing from the back seat of our car, “I cast all my cares upon You. I lay all of my burdens down at Your feet. And anytime I don’t know what to do, I will cast all my cares upon You.”

Let it all go, and rest! You are loved.

    • Those memories of our children are precious. We were on a vacation trip on the highway, and my young daughter was singing a hymn that goes: In the arms of sweet deliverance I will lay my heavy burdens down. Are you familiar with that hymn? My daughter was singing it the way she heard it. I had to laugh when I corrected her misunderstanding. She was singing: In the arms of sweet liver lips… Ha! She was too young to understand the lyrics, so she went with what she thought she heard.

As always, thank you for your sweet advice. Let it all go and rest. I shall, I shall. I appreciate you, Paula. Blessings to you…

Hi Carol Ann, nice to see a blog post coming from your corner of the world. 🙂 Your presence is missed in the blogosphere, but not forgotten.

    • Thank you, Patti. I’m on my way to your blog. I’ll be getting there soon. I have to stop replying to comments for a bit. Duty calls. My hubby is waiting for his breakfast. You are a wonderful supporter, Patti. I appreciate you very much. Blessings to you…

Carol Ann, I love your humility and the way you open yourself completely to God. I am reminded of the Word that says, when I am weak then I am strong. His strength is made perfect in your weakness. Beautiful!

Beautiful post. It’s something I forget often – I can’t do it on my own – I need God to give me strength.

Something we can all learn from, Carol Ann. You continue to be an inspiration to me.

  7. fivecats says:

Very nice post. A good reminder all of our strength comes from God if we place our full trust in Him.

    Continued prayers and blessings.

  8. Jeanne says:

Thank you for the reminder of God’s sufficiency. All too often I try to do it on my own and mess it up, handing off only those things I don’t feel I can handle when it would have been so much simpler to rely on HIm.

    • I forget so easily where my successes come from, but God allows my failures to clear up my vision. God is good and mighty to save and provide. I miss your blog. I must find my way there. Blessings to you, Jeanne…

what a divine truth Carol, God makes us rise higher and higher so we could lose ourselves in that divine presence.

  11. Carol, thank you for your beautiful words. While I know they come from deep inside you, where you suffer and find your strength, they also inspire and encourage many of the rest of us!

Prayers continue for you and Johannes ❤

  12. Thank you, littlethingsoflife. I appreciate your kind thoughts. Thank you for your prayers for us. Blessings to you…
