Sometimes I Forget My Flesh Is There

LORD – I struggled with her yesterday –
I was cranky for no good reason –
Sometimes I forget my flesh is there –
But You reveal my adversary to me –
Oft she may assert herself –
Though I may not detect her there –
Yesterday she wished I would
Step out of her way
 
Forgive me for the times I let her shove
You off Your throne – I don’t
Want her there – she doesn’t care –
She seeks control – she hates me –
She doesn’t like You either – LORD –
When she gets the upper hand
In me – I’m sure to shame Your name –
Forgive me for that LORD
 
Jesus – I know in me – in my flesh that is –
There is no good thing – I speak
Of her – LORD – I once was she –
I gave her domain to You –
Jesus – She’d like to take it
Away from You – She wants
Me to agree with her decree –
But I say – no way
 

Thank you – LORD – for Your Spirit in me –
Shining light on her – showing
How she catches me unaware –
When she rattles her cage to be free –
Demanding her own way – seeking
Her old familiar territory –
When I praise you – LORD –
She flees from me
 
Thank You LORD for triumph –I’m born of
The Spirit – not the flesh – destined
For new life in Christ – I anticipate
A better day – forever – so I
Groan within myself for change –
For the redemption of my body when
This mortal dons immortality in the
Twinkling of an eye –

Romans 7:18-25 – The Bible (NIV) – For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. Romans 8:1-4 – The Bible (NIV) – There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:18-23 – The Bible (KJV) – For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

John 3:3-8 – The Bible – (KVJ) – Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:49-53 – The Bible (KJV) – And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
