Thank You – LORD – For Who You Are

Another day has gone its way
Weariness slows my mind
Nothing sounds better than
Resting on my pillow

Moonlight glows – the shades I close –
All is right in one respect –
You are with me as ever –
Though my world’s a mess

Not my world – Your world’s a mess –
My corner of Your world –
Okay – You own my corner –
It’s a mess – LORD

Why should I worry as I do –
When You love them more
Than I – and You care
As much as I

Thank you – LORD – for Who You are
Thank you for letting me
Close my eyes and rest –
Knowing I’m blessed

Psalm 127 – The Bible (KJV) – Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Psalm 93 – The Bible (New Living Translation) – The LORD reigns, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is established, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.

I love this line, “Nothing sounds better than
Resting on my pillow.” You said so much in that sentence. Thanks, once again, for your inspiration!

I feel this today. I’m exhausted, but my mind in anxious. Silly really, because thinking it over and over doesn’t change a thing. I hope your words ease my mind as I give in to sleep, because I too, am blessed.

    • Yes, you are blessed, and we can’t change anything by worry, so we may as well rest in the presence of the One who holds us all in His strong hand. This peace of mind I seek, because once I embraced, rest comes sweetly behind. Thank you for your comment. May all your nights be restful in Him. Blessings to you…

beautiful sentiments carol. i believe that we should walk God’s path to make this world a better place. God never pulls, lures someone to God’s path, expects us to walk on our own.

    lots of love.

    • God never forces, but he woos, calls, and draws us to Jesus, our Savior.

1 Peter 2:9 – The Bible – But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light…

God calls us out of darkness. Blessings to you, Trisha.

Smiled at “My corner of Your world–Okay–You own my corner.” I love the relationship we have with our Lord, that we can talk to him just as we are, right where we are; it doesn’t have to be all flowery, just from the heart. I slept well, as soon as my head hit the pillow. I hope you did, too. Blessings to you, Carol.

    • I’m glad you slept well. I did also. I love that old hymn, What a Friend We Have in Jesus. There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus. No not one, no not one. I realize I gave the title of one song and quoted the lyrics of another. They both sing about the sweet relationship we have with the LORD. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comment. Blessings to you, Patti…

  8. I especially like your ending:
    Thank you for letting me
Close my eyes and rest –
    Knowing I’m blessed.

He knows our need and has provided so many wonderful verses to remind us that we don’t have to cope on our own… we need to depend on Him.
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you.” [Psalm 55:22]
    Rest in him, my friend.

Carol Ann, I prayed and asked the Lord what He would have me
respond to your poem. Here is what flowed:

There is a candle shinning bright
It flickers softly through the night
when darkness weights the fragile heart
and fills the soul with fear

This candle lights the weary path
and leads the hurting from the dark
It welcomes those who need its spark
And floods them with pure love

He is the candle in the night
The scourge to evil’s wicked might
And hope for all who’ve lost their way
Take heart He seeks them still today.

    Blessings,
    Elizabeth

  10. What a beautiful poem, Elizabeth. And it’s so comforting to me. It’s just what I needed to hear this morning. Thank you so much for taking time to express such beautiful thoughts. The last lines really sum it up and make it so special to me: And hope for all who’ve lost their way; take heart He seeks them still today. Blessings to you today and always…

  11. God is good.
I know to some people this is just an excuse, a fantasy, a stupid belief. It is not. God is good. Yesterday I was really (really!) frustrated with my second attempt at oil painting. When I called God for help He gave me the strength to persevere. The oil painting is more than 3/4 finished now. It’s an abstract.

    • What a wonderful talent God gave you! Oil painting produces such beautiful art.

I agree with you. Prayer makes a difference, and often an instant difference. I’ve had it happen that way, too. One time I struggled with an annoying problem for a long time, maybe an hour, before I prayed. Instantly, everything changed and worked out beautifully. I could almost audibly hear the LORD saying, “I thought you’d never ask!” He waited until I asked Him to help me. Yes, God is good. Sometimes we don’t receive because we fail to ask. Blessings to you, Jessie…
