Father – Make Me Strong

Father- make me strong –
Teach me spiritual warfare –
Make my spirit supple –
Let it bend – not break –
Show me how to fight
The fight of faith – make
My light shine brightly –
Make the darkness flee
From me – because Your
Word is my delight

Psalm 119:16 – The Bible (KJV) – I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

1 Timothy 6:12 – The Bible (KJV) – Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Philippians 4:12-13 – The Bible (KJV) – I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

Proverbs 16:32 – The Bible (KJV) – He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

James 4:7 – The Bible (KJV) – Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Psalm 37:3-9 – The Bible (KJV) -Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

    • Such a sweet comment. Thank you. Yes, there is strength in weakness. When we are weak, He is strong. When we are aware of our weakness, we rely on His strength. The tiniest particle of the power of God is mightier than our greatest effort. Perhaps I should have written not Father – make me strong, but rather Father – Give Me Your Strength. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words. Blessings to you, Elizabeth…

  9. I love the biblical images associated with the tree–the ability to bend, not break, roots that grow deep, nourished by grace. Like a tree planted near running streams….Blessings.
