LORD – Who Are the Righteous

FATHER in your Word are many promises

Promises made to the righteous –
Who are the righteous

I am not righteous LORD – You know –
Not in myself – It’s not in me LORD
To do right for long

My heart breaks when I fail –
How do you forgive me
As though I had not sinned

My child – all this time do you

Not know that My righteousness
I’ve given you

The Accuser has no power
To harm you – no charge against
You prevails

You believed the testimony
Of My Word – You trusted Me
Like Abraham – by faith

Your sins are covered forever

By My sacrifice – My blood shed
By My Son –

Your righteousness is from Me
You will never be condemned –
Stand sure in this –

My child – You are blessed

You are mine – don’t fret –
Obey and rest

Salvation by faith expressed in scripture from Genesis to Revelation (italics added):

John 3:16 – The Bible (KJV) – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Genesis 15:3 and 6 – The Bible (KJV) – And Abram said… And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

Isaiah 54:17 – The Bible (KJV) – No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Isaiah 64:6 – The Bible (KJV) – But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags

Romans 4:1-8 – The Bible (KJV) – What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what says the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that works is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that works not, but believeth on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputes righteousness without works, saying, blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Ephesians 2:8-10 – The Bible (KJV) – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Revelation 19:7-8 – The Bible (KJV) – Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

  2. Working my way through Isaiah these days. This message rings true. Our “righteousness” is a gift, not something we earn.

  3. Your final words are simply stunning Carol – and so encouraging…”My child – You are blessed, You are mine – don’t fret – Obey and rest”. How wonderful a promise is that?

I enjoyed reading this Carol Ann. It’s a lovely reminder that our righteousness
is of God and not of ourselves. We can trust and rest in Him.

Like Chloe and Bonnie, I loved the ending – it is reassuring. And that Maine Coon kitty is so cute 🙂

    • I went to Wikipedia to look at what it had to say and show about a Maine Coon cat. I see why you call this kitten a Maine Coon kitty. He is very cute. Thank you for sharing that information. My Shady is a huge cat, like a Maine Coon. He looks lion-like with his long fur around his face. I’m not sure what breed he really is. Probably mixed.

Thank you for stopping by, Janna. I appreciate your comment. The end is the best part, the most comforting conclusion reminding us of our precious security in Christ. Blessings…

I like how concisely you can share a message, Carol. You don’t bog the reader down with a lot of words, and you choose them well. Like the two-edged sword, it’s fast and goes deeply.

    Carol Ann–
what amazes me is…how can we fail…repeatedly…repent and ask forgiveness…and NOT feel guilt? I struggle with that–could be the upbringing from the faith tradition in which I was raised…

it’s hard to accept that forgiveness–especially when we know and understand what it cost God to sacrifice His Son…what it cost Jesus…

    blessings…

    • I appreciate your comment. You probably know this, but for anyone who may not, I’d like to say something. God is never surprised by our failings. He knows everything from the beginning to the end. When we sin, there are consequences, but not condemnation. For instance, the consequence of touching a hot stove is a burn. We live with our messes, but even then, I believe that God is merciful and works things out for us. I don’t know what that may involve, but Romans 8:28 may come into play for us in those instances where consequences have injured us.

Nudging from the Holy Spirit when we do wrong, may feel like guilt, but it’s not meant to condemn us, but to turn us back to the right path. Condemnation comes from the enemy, and his purpose is to make us feel alienated from God. Forgiveness is always available to us, and knowing we are forgiven increases our love and praise for LORD.

I sometimes punish myself and treat myself with contempt when I fail. As you say, Jane, how can we not feel guilt? And the enemy has a hay day with it. I don’t think it praises God for us to hate ourselves. What do we do for the LORD while feeling like mud under the bus? Not much. We hide. When we accept and experience forgiveness, we praise and worship. Blessings to you, Jane…

Carol, you are so good at explaining things so clearly. I’ve probably said this before, but that is such a gift. You, are a gift. I’m so glad He put you in my life.
