Thank You LORD for Unwavering Love

Thank you LORD for your gentleness
In the presence of my harshness
For your grace to cover my lawless
Self-centeredness

Thank you for new beginnings LORD
Each blessing you give – each tear
You wipe from my eyes praises
Your unwavering love

Psalm 18:35 – The Bible (KJV) – Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath held me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

Jeremiah 31:3 – The Bible (KJV) – The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.

Lamentations 3:22-26 – The Bible (KJV) – It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

Psalm 116:5-9 – The Bible (KJV) – Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. The LORD preserves the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

1 John 1:9 – The Bible (KJV) – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

SO thankful for grace! I was reading Philip Yancey’s book, “What’s So Amazing About Grace,” a few years back, and had left it in the car. I was driving my neighbors to a doctor’s appointment, and the husband asked me, “What IS so amazing about grace?” I told him I found it amazing that God had not wiped mankind off the face of the planet already! Your poem brought back a sweet memory of a lovely couple.

Beautiful words this morning Carol. I definitely need rescueing from my selfcenteredness. I find myself more worried about “me time” and seem to want to spend less time with others. I love how you serve up gentle reminders some mornings that get my focus back where it needs to be. Blessings dear friend, Jeanne

    • This poem came directly out of my own experience. It’s me, LORD, standing in the need of prayer. I remember that song. It’s wonderful to know that when we find ourselves outside of the place we belong, God is gracious and willing to restore us. Some “me-time” is necessary, Jeanne. Me-time can be time we spend in solitude enjoying our relationship with the LORD. Sometimes we must come away from the hustle and bustle of life. Blessings to you…

I especially love that last verse Carol Ann. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. All we need do is recognize we have sinned and confess it to Him. How simple is that? Yet, how ginormous the blessings!

    • Thank you for your visit and comment, Elizabeth. It is a comfort to know that some people read the verses that accompany my poems. God’s Word builds us up. I try to put up Bible verses that relate to my poem. Blessings to you today and always…

    • How time flies! Weekend blessings to you, too, Cindy. Thank you for your sweet vote of confidence. The screamin’ demon in me escapes once in a while, more often than I like to think. I have to put her back in her cage. God is good. If we were not in need, Jesus would not have endured Calvary for us. I am reminded of my innate deficiency and His great sacrificial love when my humanity shows. If I were always good, I suppose it wouldn’t be long before pride would have me in its grip. Blessings to you, sweet Cindy…
