Lucifer Loses All – Seeks Retribution

The Evil One – author of lies –
Is backer of every distortion
Of truth – every caricature
Of God – each false slant –
For instance consider

The Serpent in the Garden of Eden
Spoke a lie to Eve
Stealthily – he asked her
A leading question – Eve –
Did God really say

You must not eat from any tree
In the garden – Eve knew
What God had said – but
The Serpent said – You
Shall not surely die

Eve doubted God’s integrity
Based on the Serpent’s insinuation
That God had lied to her
To keep her in the dark
To deny her something good

Eve disobeyed God and died –

That moment her spirit departed –
Eve changed instantly –
The first genetic mutation
May have occurred in her –

Adam was with her – Did he see
Death’s countenance appear
As Eve’s sweet spirit died –
And the shame that came –
He had to make a choice –

Adam chose to join his wife –
He gave away his life
for Eve – Adam forsook
God – Eve was deceived –
Adam knew the price

Jesus Christ – second Adam –
Made a way to save
His bride from the curse
Of eternal death by dying
On the cross for us

God always had a plan in place
To give His only Son –
The first Adam chose
Sin – The second Adam
Made a way for us

Philosophers fill our ears with lies
Projecting a distorted view
Of God – prompted by
The Evil One – wearing a
Lamb’s disguise – they say

Choose to be god yourself – be free –
Throw off restraints despised –
God answers back – Lucifer –
You said you’d be like
The most High – not so

Lucifer loses all – seeks retribution
Against the Most High
Believe his lie and you will
Die without remedy –
Why die – God says – Choose life

Isaiah 14:12-14 – the Bible (KJV) – How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Genesis 3:1-7 – the Bible (KJV) – Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, we may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.  And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

1 Timothy 2:14 – And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

John 3:16-18 – The Bible (KJV) – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

The part about the distorted view of God filling our ears struck me, because I’ve encountered this recently. I also agree that the last line is just perfect 🙂

  4. “God always had a plan in place.” Yes, he did, and his plan is the only assurance I need. I also hang onto Psalm 138:8 — “The Lord will work out his plans for my life.” Lucifer doesn’t stand a chance!

I had to know what the verse said. I put it in my comment to share with anyone that may read. Beautiful verse, Carol. Thank you.

Psalm 138:8 – The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

this is a wonderful way in which you described adam and eve’s actions, and redemption of that action by jesus christ.

there is so much to learn from your poem.
