LORD Show Mercy – Grant Grace

One bolt of lightning
One crack of thunder
Woke me from sleep
I cracked the blinds
To watch the show
Your power unleashed
Yet under control

I spoke my prayer
For mercy LORD
For all of Earth’s
Inhabitants – the
Young – the old – the
Strong – the weak –
Some awake – some asleep

LORD God – our Savior-
Mistreated and cursed –
You made the way to
Forgive everyone
LORD – Let all see
Past anger
Past grief

Show mercy LORD in
This Age of Your Grace
Break the chains of
Unbelief – grant faith
Lift the downcast
Countenance – Bathe
Helplessness in hope

Acts 4-10-12 – Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Isaiah 61:1-3 – The Bible (KJV) – (speaking to all) The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Ephesians 2:4-9 – The Bible (KJV) (speaking to believers) – But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Bathe Helplessness in hope… I think in pictures, which is probably why I like this line so much! It makes intangible things, tangible. Thank you for some encouraging verses, Carol Ann 🙂

Thunder and lightning always make me think of man’s helplessness too. I think lightning is one of nature’s best displays of God’s beauty and power, so obvious and raw.

    • Whenever a thunderstorm comes, I am captivated and awed by it. I like to watch the lightning and hear the thunder. Somehow knowing that God is as strong and mighty as He is comforts me. I know my God is BIG! Thanks for stopping and commenting. Blessings to you…
