Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

I love psalm 91…now I have a hymn going through my head which is not a bad thing!

Thank you for stopping by, Victoria, and for your comment. Psalm 91 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. I should have posted the entire chapter. I almost did and then decided to focus on a single thought. Blessings to you always…

Psalm 91 is always a winner. Thanks for the reminder and refreshment, that He is our rest, our refuge, or fortress. Such a comforting word. Peace and grace to you, Carol.

the word fortress would have a more significant profound meaning for the ancients. Without a fortress into which they may take refuge the group is vulnerable to destruction by competing groups.

I appreciate your historical perspective. When I think of fortress, military might comes to my mind, and the name of God that refers to Him as Commander of troops, Jehovah Nissi, LORD of Hosts. Blessings to you, Carl…

Ah, rest.
And, to think we can rest in the shadow of the Creator of the Universe.
It’s too much, truly, too much for my mind to wrap around.
I love that my God is both Fortress and Sanctuary…
a place to hide…and a place from which to draw strength.
beautiful words, dear Carol Ann, before I rest my head.

Thank you for stopping by, Jane, and for your beautifully stated comment. Yes, we are blessed beyond words, beyond comprehension. When I saw the photo of the kitten hiding in a deep shadow, I thought of the shadow of the Almighty, which I found in our wonderful 91st Psalm. Blessings to you, Jane…

Thank you for stopping by and for your comment, Janna. I wish I’d have posted the entire Psalm 91. There is great comfort in the first two verses that I posted, but it’s just the beginning. Read the rest of it. It will encourage you to contemplate how tenderly God cares for His own. Blessings to you…
