the word fortress would have a more significant profound meaning for the ancients. Without a fortress into which they may take refuge the group is vulnerable to destruction by competing groups.

And, to think we can rest in the shadow of the Creator of the Universe.
It’s too much, truly, too much for my mind to wrap around.
I love that my God is both Fortress and Sanctuary…
a place to hide…and a place from which to draw strength.
