We need not fear mighty men
Or bow to oppressive rulers
God alone governs heaven and earth
And no one can resist His intent
Evil men connive and plot – yet
No one thwarts the plan of God
Dreamers dream and schemers scheme
But no one opposes God and wins
The meekest godly man on earth
Is mightier than a monarch
Which exerts his power by tyranny
Not knowing his days are numbered
The wicked shall be turned into hell
And the nations that forget God –
The needy shall not be forgotten
Nor the hope of the poor perish
By Carol Ann Hoel © February 25, 2011
There were times in history when God, through his prophets, instructed his people Israel to submit themselves to foreign leaders, and He blessed them in their captivity. Yet they were to be true to God. Daniel was true to God and was delivered from the lion’s den. Some that remained true to God became martyrs, and they will receive crowns for their faithfulness. (Martyrs of God are not terrorists, nor do not carry out acts of terrorism.)

Psalm 9:17-18 – The Bible – The wicked shall be turned into hell, and the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish forever.
Isaiah 14:12-15 – The Bible – How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Daniel 5:1-6 – The Bible – Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand. Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein. Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them. They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.
Daniel 5:24-30 – The Bible – Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written. And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

One of the things I find amusing is that people have this notion that following God is easy. Its not and there are many forces working against one’s soul.
