One Expectation

The weight of the world
On my shoulders
The care of the masses
In my heart
My eyes focused
On our sorrows
My ears set
To their cries

Little
Have I
To give
Less to save
For a cushion
One hope
Have I only

One expectation
This

My help
Comes from the LORD
Who made Heaven and Earth

Though mountains crumble
Economies collapse
Leaders tremble

We will remember
You LORD
I hear you say

Be still and know
I am God

Psalm 121 – I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Psalm 46:6-11 – The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Thank you for those words. When people feel insignificant and powerless they can become destructive and desperate, but if those feelings show them their need for Someone greater, it’s a beautiful thing! šŸ˜€

    • Thank you for wise words, Jacsprat. With God on our side, we are never powerless no matter how we may feel. I like the way you put it: if those feelings show them their need for Someone greater, it’s a beautiful thing! Thank you for stopping by and for your comment. Blessings to you…

    • Thank you, Keli. I appreciate your stopping by and your comment. Hope is my word for the year 2011. With all the troubles in the world this last year, hope seemed like a good word to dwell on. Your blogs are always encouraging. I enjoy both of them. Thank you again for visiting. Blessings to you…

  7. Jodie Bailey has been leading us through the Psalms and just this Wednesday I told her my favourite of the section we were to study this week was Psalm 121. After a particularly difficult time some years ago I had been drawn to it. Here in the outskirts of Vancouver we are sheltered by the mountains of the Coastal Range. The majestic Rockies arenā€™t far away. So that Psalm always sings to me of both the absolute power and the tender love of my God. I see that same sense of assurance and hope in your poem.

    • Thank you, Carol. Psalm 121 is precious to me, too. Sheltered by the mountains… Those words are awesome. Mountains make me think of the power and might of God. How nice to live with mountains sheltering your home, to have that visual reminder of His eternal protection. I appreciate your visit and your comment. Blessings to you…
