What will I do if the well runs dry
Where will I go if the rent’s too high
Who’ll stay by me if my friends all fly
The LORD
Says my heart
The LORD
Who made the earth and flung the sky
So far and so wide where the eagles fly
Who but the LORD keeps me safe and dry
The LORD
Says my heart
The LORD

Psalm 37:3-9
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the LORD
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.

This instantly made me think of “Trust in the Lord”… the phrase turns up in so many places throughout the Bible, but your poem personalizes it. And then I found your supporting scripture below it. Beautifully written, Carol Ann!

I like how you include the scriptures as references after your poems. That second picture was eye-catching and fit that stanza perfectly 🙂

Thank you, Janna. I try to find appropriate photos to enhance enjoyment.
I love scripture, too. The Word contains the promises we depend on. Without the words of scripture, we would be presumptuous to believe such amazing things. All we know about The LORD comes from His Word, God’s revelation to us of His unfailing love and great power. Blessings to you…

Carol…I think you should send this one out for publication. It touched a cord in me. I believe “Weavings” would be a good match for you, if you ever cared to give it a go.

I’ve never thought about looking for a publisher for my poems. They are simple, conversational. I don’t think of them as art as much as messages. Thank you for encouraging me. I’ll see if I can find this magazine and find out what requirements there are to query about this poem. I’m glad it touched a cord with you. It does with me, too. Blessings to you, Andrea…

Hi Carol – well, apart from your blog and the wonderful scriptures that you share, I have rarely read the bible in years…despite having a strong belief in God which I hope makes me think about the way I conduct myself. However, since reading your blog, I’ve realised the beauty contained in the Book of Psalms and have decided I’m going to read it again in its entirity. Thanks for that inspiration my friend.
And your poem is wonderful….I agree with your friend Amkuska – you should definately try to get some of your poems published as I believe they would speak to many people…thanks for touching my heart xx

Thank you, Chloe, for your kind comment, and for sharing with me that you plan to read the entire book of Psalms. I love the Psalms, too. When I need encouragement, I always find one that touches my heart. Thank you, also, for your comment about trying to get my poem(s) published. I may do this. I intended to look into it today, but there wasn’t time. I’ll try for tomorrow. Blessings to you, always, Chloe…

Very nice. Your second stanza reminds me of a hymn, whose title escapes me now (it’ll probably come at an odd hour).
