Year 2008 steps into the ring
Bam! Knocked down as
Real estate bubble bursts
Banks fold
Stocks slide
Hopes burn
Jobs go
Year 2009 steps into the ring
Bam! Knocked down as
Foreclosures boom
Troubles loom
Homeless swoon
Future is
Gloom
Year 2010 jumps in
Experts said
Recession ended
No one knows
Where it went
Jobs are few
Nothing’s new but
Foreclosure stew
How’s it working
For you
Year 2011 coming soon
What will happen as
We start the year
Employers
Bankers
Investors
Wall Street Players
Moms and dads
Boys and girls
Cheer
Are better times
Near
Year 2011
We are waiting for you
May God bless you
With hope
Fill you with riches
Make your ears ring
With joy bells
And laughter
Our Father
In Heaven
Bless 2011
As only You
Can do
In the name of
Jesus we pray
Amen
It’s me again Lord
With a post script
We want to thank you
Father in Heaven
For the many blessings
Of these past years
For your mercy and grace
You didn’t allow
The monster killer recession
To consume us
Or destroy us
We thank you
For your Spirit that restrains
Your power unfettered
Your love unfailing
And we humbly wait
For your gifts to us
In the year of our hope
This Year 2011

Psalm 95:1-7 – O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand…
my prayers are joining yours. May this year bring hope and prosperity to every human being’s life.

I, also, believe things may improve this year. My earnest prayer is that our nation and the world will be blessed with prosperity of every kind. God answers prayer, so He will bless. I hope we will recognize his blessing. Sometimes blessings come in the form of correction. Perhaps our season of correction is about to give way to a season of rejoicing. God is good and He will accomplish His purpose. Thank you for stopping by and for sharing your spirit of hope. Surely a spirit of hope comes from our God of all hope. Thank you, Jane. And blessings to you always…

You are right, Zoe. Jesus has always been there for me, always, through tough times and good times. And the testimony you just gave in your comment says God has always been there for you. Yet there is such misery all around us that breaks our hearts. I know God cares and waits for our prayers. He inspires our prayers and then acts on our behalf for others. We must cry out for them.

Thank you, Trisha. My first day of the year is just beginning. It’s fascinating living on opposite sides of the globe. I like seeing the people all over the world celebrating the midnight hour at slightly different moments because of that strange thing called time. I hope your first day was wonderful, too. Our sunlight hour began a few hours ago and we look forward to a great day. Blessings to you always, Trisha.

This, too, is our hope for a better year for all. Challenges will be for certain. God will hear prayers for strength and guidance, and grant them through His unseen ways.
May you and your husband have a blessed 2011.

This speaks to the fact that it is the storm that is the crucible for whether or not we choose to rejoice in the mist of our storms or only when things are popping up daisies. Anyone can sing a tune at noon (as my pastor says), but it is when we give praise in the midst of the storm that demonstrates steadfast faith. A wonderful post indeed Carol. Let us thank God for his mercies and grace and for the coming blessings despite all that has happened. Great post friend 🙂
