The World Turns

The world turns
My heart yearns
For peace and safety
For the ones I love

Days gone by that
Once distressed me
Compared with troubles
Now all around me
Seem small and
Insignificant

My own travails
Seemed larger then
My soul captured
Held in fear
But looking back
You intervened
You healed
You rewarded
You never blamed
Or berated

Come back I say
To them again
But how does one return
To a place having
Never been

Intervene for them
Open hearts
Cleanse eyes
And ears
Abolish fears
For them
Set the Captives free
Oh Mighty Warrior
God of Heaven and Earth
I praise you forever
LORD Jesus
Amen

The Bible, Psalms 34:6-8- This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

  3. Your poem brought to mind Corrie ten Boom’s story of how, when she was in the concentration camp, she heard God say He would bring her back to the home she had lived in. And He did. It seemed impossible at the time.
