The world turns
My heart yearns
For peace and safety
For the ones I love
Days gone by that
Once distressed me
Compared with troubles
Now all around me
Seem small and
Insignificant
My own travails
Seemed larger then
My soul captured
Held in fear
But looking back
You intervened
You healed
You rewarded
You never blamed
Or berated
Come back I say
To them again
But how does one return
To a place having
Never been
Intervene for them
Open hearts
Cleanse eyes
And ears
Abolish fears
For them
Set the Captives free
Oh Mighty Warrior
God of Heaven and Earth
I praise you forever
LORD Jesus

Your poem brought to mind Corrie ten Boom’s story of how, when she was in the concentration camp, she heard God say He would bring her back to the home she had lived in. And He did. It seemed impossible at the time.

The book is called The Hiding Place and was co-authored by Corrie. There was also a movie made of it- probably a little difficult to find. I saw it many years ago- it was very well done.
