Who Am I

Who Am I
I am the center
Of the universe
Of my life
I own it
I want it
I keep it
I share it
With the few
The precious few
Who serve my purpose
What is my purpose
My purpose is to be free
And full
I am she
Delicate she
Or he
Fragile he
Controlling the universe
Of my life
The chaotic cosmos
Of my life
That defies
I seek peace
Desire peace
I find trouble
I cannot control
Or hold on
Or find
Or keep
Or understand
The complexity of
The futility of my quest
To be free and full
Is worse than death
Who can help me
Who can save me from
Jesus said
I am the way

Where did you get the pictures for this poem? What an awesome technique for expressing the power of a word.

Carol, this is a wonderful post. I love the way you summed it up in the ending. Be blessed dear.

  3. Trisha says:

we all should know and feel this glorious truth.
thanks again Carol, for showing us a vision of God.

    • Thank you, Trisha. I wrote this many months ago for someone I love and who has probably never read it, but my prayers are always for this one to see Jesus. Maybe the words of this poem will touch someone that God has brought to the right moment to embrace, to believe in, the risen Son of God. It may only be an unidentified click in the night, but my prayer is that this will be a stepping stone for someone to meet Jesus. Blessings to you, Trisha…

Wow, I so thought about the current (but not new) attitude of self-centeredness and entitlement when I read this. Everywhere I read, it’s all about how someone did something so he/she can “find him/herself” (and too many times, that “something” comes at the expense of another person, i.e. a cheating on one’s spouse, backing out of business deals/promises, etc). (Self-improvement is one thing, but should not come at the expense of another person.)

Thank you for sharing this, and I hope your loved one sees Christ in this, and in you 🙂

Thank you, Liza, for your encouraging comment. Your point about people “finding themselves” at the expense of others is very true in today’s culture with everyone feeling “entitled” to seek his own way even if it hurts someone else. Thank you for visiting and for your kind hope for my loved one.

This contains so much truth…I love the words “I am the center Of the universe Of my life” – so many people think they are the center of the universe – period!! We do spend so much time wondering how we are gonna make it through life and, you have summed it all up with word’s from the Saviour “I am the way”. We should spend less time worrying and more time putting our trust in him. Beautiful xx
